Happy birthday as VICE CHANCELLOR OF BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY Prof. Msugh Moses Kembe Turns 54

Today, Monday, October 10th, 2016 the Vice-Chancellor of Benue State University, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe, is a year older.

To those who know the Vice-Chancellor very well, Professor Moses Msugh Kembe is a perfect example of a silent achiever, a fair but firm leader, a veritable team player and a visionary team leader, a listening and emphatic leader who cannot stand seeing anybody treated unjustly.

Let me start introducing the man of the day, by swinging through the pendulum of his enduring legacies @54.

Prof. Msugh Moses Kembe was born about 54 years ago in Binev Ward, Tombo Mbalagh, Buruku Local Government Area.

Educationally, He attended the famous Bristow Secondary School Gboko and graduated in 1979.
He proceeded to the University of Jos where he obtained his first degree in Mathematics in 1984.

Prof. Kembe also attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained his masters degree in Statistics specializing in Operations Research in 1992. He capped his academic pursuits with a PhD in Statistics at the University of Agriculture Makurdi in 2009.

His career; Prof. Msugh Kembe started his teaching career at the College of Education, Katsina-Ala where he taught for almost 8 years. He joined the services of the Benue State University in 1993. He is currently a Professor of Statistics and the Dean Faculty of Science at Benue State University Makurdi.

Prof. Kembe has several published works under his name. He also has many years of research experience as a consultant with local and international organizations. Specifically, he has consulted for:

-        The Benue State Health Systems Fund;
-         State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) Makurdi.
-         The British Department for International Development (State and Local Government Programme – SLGP).

He has attended and participated in many workshops on the application of statistics both in Nigeria and abroad. The most recent ones been the workshop of the use of STATA organised by UNDP and held at the NBS Abuja and the Operations Research for Health system(ORAHS) workshop held in Twente,  Holland  and Istanbul Turkey.

He is a member of Contact Friendship Club and the Makurdi Club 1930. Prof. Kembe plays Tennis and Darts as his hobbies.

For Benue State University, his months of  Vice-Chancellorship have been very eventful as several landmark achievements are being recorded in all spheres of the University's main mandate: teaching, research and community service.

In religion, Professor Kembe is an ardent dedicated practicing Catholic. He is also a Knight.

Above all, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe is a perfect family man who enjoys love and support from his immediate and extended families.

He is happily married to Prof. Elizabeth Mngusen Kembe. A gender activist, a kind and loving mother, a philanthropist and the Union is blessed with four beautiful quality children. 

I have known Professor Msugh Moses Kembe since I was a child. I have watch him take on his numerous managerial magic in administration and takes on public issues, I have studied him and realized that he is an unrepentant and unapologetic welfarist. His days as the Dean of Students affairs will never be forgotten. He does not need to know your father or godfather before he considers you in his scheme of things.

Ladies and gentlemen please join me in wishing this great man who is been endowed with scintillating wisdom and intellectual humility a happy birthday.

Sir, May the Almighty God, whom you have so faithfully served, grant you many more years in good health and continued wisdom so that you can fearlessly continue in your service to the nation and to humanity.
