Our Own Benue Sister Shaapera Wins TECNO Own The Stage

After months of competing against some of Africa’s finest talents, in front a global huge audience and three of the toughest judges on the planet, our very own Benue Origin and Tiv sister Shaapera on Sunday, February 7, emerged as the maiden winner of TECNO Own The Stage.

It was a culmination of years of hard work for the Nigerian-born Shaapera who went home with the competition’s grand prize of $25,000 at the end of Sunday’s Grand Finale in Lagos.
In addition, she also earned for herself a recording deal as well as a brand new TECNO Phantom 5.
In second place was the Tanzanian, Nandy, who went home with $15,000, a three-month internship programme at the internationally acclaimed Chocolate City, and a Tecno Phantom 5 smartphone, while Pascal, from Kenya, finished in third place and earned for himself $10,000 and a Tecno Phantom 5 smartphone.
Sikin, who was the other Kenyan that made it into Sunday’s Grand Finale, placed fourth at the end of the show. But she also looks destined for greatness after putting up a series of exceptional performances from the show’s outset.
It seemed not long ago when 15 contestants – five each from Kenya, Nigeria and Tanzania – come together in the city of Lagos in their quest to be crowned the continent’s best.
But after over 13 weeks of intense competition the battle for who would lay claim to the right to be called King or Queen of the stage became a four-way battle for glory.
But there was only going to be one overall winner which turned out to be the multitalented Shaapera from Benue State, Nigeria who, it seems, could do no wrong in the eyes of the judges – Bien, Yemi and M.I.
It was a glorious night for Shaapera and the world awaits as she gets set to own the stage globally.
