Governor Ortom Gives One Week Ultimatum to Bureau to Round Up Disbursement of Bailout

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has given this week as an ultimatum to the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to round up the disbursement of bailout funds to workers.

The disbursement of the N28.015bn bailout funds secured from the Federal Government for the payment of salary arrears owed by the past administration has been an issue of concern. Whilst the payment to state government workers have gone smoothly, those for local government workers and primary school teachers have experienced unexplainable hitches.
The Governor is said to be concerned led the state executive council to set up a special committee last week that will ensure that the funds are disbursed speedily.
The committee who have been working round the clock directed that all verified local Government staff and primary School Teachers in Benue State who are yet to be paid or partly paid their bail out arrears of salaries should submit their details to the Directors, General Service Administration and Education Secretaries of their various Local Governments respectively.
The compiled names will then be submitted to the committee today, Monday, 7 December 2015 at the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Makurdi, after which disbursement will commence
